Embroidery Machines
An embroidery machine is a dedicated machine for stitching decorative designs, like monograms, logos, appliqué and patterns, using a hoop to hold fabric and a digitised design file to guide the needle. Unlike a regular sewing machine, it doesn't construct garments; it decorates them.
About Embroidery Machines
They're the machine of choice for anyone doing repeat decorative work: personalising gifts, branding workwear, monogramming linen, or running a small embroidery business from home. Most Brother embroidery machines connect via USB or built-in wireless to import designs, and include an on-screen editor for resizing, rotating, and combining patterns before you stitch.
What to Look For
- Hoop size
- Determines the largest single design area. Bigger hoops suit jackets and larger projects, smaller hoops suit caps and cuffs.
- Built-in designs & fonts
- More models include a library of ready-to-stitch designs and monogram fonts, useful if you're not designing your own artwork.
- Design transfer
- USB, wireless, or direct computer connection. Matters if you're importing designs from embroidery software regularly.
- Screen & editing
- A larger, colour touchscreen makes positioning and combining designs far easier, especially for multi-hoop layouts.

Common Questions
Can an embroidery machine also sew regular seams?
No, embroidery-only machines are built purely for decorative stitching. If you want both in one machine, look at our Combination Machines range instead.
Do I need design software to use one?
Not necessarily. Every Brother embroidery machine ships with a library of built-in designs and fonts, so you can stitch straight away. Software is only needed if you want to create or heavily edit your own custom designs.
